We are Phoebe, Huilin, and Pan—New York-based illustrators brought together by our shared passion for making books. This connection led to the birth of Pretty Wishes, a press dedicated to providing a platform for women artists to express their emotions and creativity.
This is our first issue, inspired by the city where we all met. We sought to capture the small, everyday moments of hanging out and daydreaming in New York. Each artist has contributed their own unique perspective of the city: from Shandy’s daily sketches to Pan’s lively characters; from Huilin’s colorful documentary-style portraits with friends to Phoebe’s whimsical depictions of local life, and YUKE’s charming birdetchings.
Printed using Risography inCMYK, this zine is limited to 100 copies. The Risograph’s speed, affordability, ease of use, and vibrant spot colors make it the ideal tool for producing small editions of zines, prints, books, and flyers.
Through Pretty Wishes, we are pouring our hearts into art and celebrating this vibrant, modern city.
